OUR LOVE IS A CACTUS

Our love blossoms in the wild
It opens gracefully with the touch of dew
Peaks with the waves at high tide
And runs free with deer in the wild
Our love heats up and rises
And falls as rain on deserted islands
Our love electrifies in abandoned castles
And cackles and lights up on exotic shores

Our love is agoraphobic
It cannot take the pounding of a busy city
It shrinks at the clink of coins
And shrivels from abandonment between 9 and 5
Our love is a loner
It is suffocated by the embrace of friends and family
It has no room for existential setbacks
Our love is a dreamer
It is at sea in the real world

Our love is a cactus
It thrives in isolation but hurts and bleeds in living spaces
